Understand the importance of the relationship between stress and rest. Stress is essential to acquire new skills or become better at those skills we already have. We need to seek out challenges we can barely handle in order to push our limits and learn. However, it's equally important to rest the body and mind in order for those learnings to really settle.
View stress as something productive. Instead of reacting with anxiety or fear, welcome the stressful situations. Realise that precisely these situations are the ones which help you grow and better yourself, and open your arms towards them.
Prioritise sleep and restful activities. Aim for at least 7 hours per day. If you're stressing your body a lot, 10 hours of sleep is not too much. Similarly, try to incorporate meditation (can be 1 minute per day) in which you allow your mind to just be.
Work on your growth mindset. When you feel stress, remember that's your body preparing you for a challenge so channel the extra energy and sharper perception into the challenge. Have calm conversations with yourself during stressful times to separate yourself from the emotions and sensations you experience.
Remove distractions from your life. Distractions as in decisions that are not really important. For some people, this can be what to eat, what to wear or when to do certain things, but this is very personal. Don't devote brain power to gossip, politics or worrying about what others think of you.
Find the times when you work best and protect those times. For instance, if you are a morning person, protect your mornings for deep focus work. Don't schedule meetings or work which doesn't require 100% focus at these times. Additionally, in order to achieve deeper focus and concentration, define concrete objectives and remove distractors such as your phone.
When you hit an impasse, don't be afraid to take a break. Step away from whatever it is you're doing and do something that requires little to no focus such as going for a walk. It's in these moments that we usually find solutions.
Surround yourself wisely. The people you surround yourself with will have a tremendous impact on you, and you on them. Don't put up with too much negativity and pessimism and remember that by having a positive attitude you're also positively affecting everyone else in your life.
Finally, work with a purpose. This will enable you to overcome your ego (which is holding you back) and unlock extra motivation.
